For my Concept and Storyboarding class, the goal was to conceptualize a piece that would recreate the work of any artist of our choice. I chose the Polish artist, Dariusz Twardoch, as the main influence for this project. The concept is based on how imagination can take us to all kinds of new and exciting places that we would not be able to achieve in reality. However, some of the best ideas can come from the ordinary and everyday
things going on in our lives. The theme of Twardoch's work is focused on this fantastical world of puppets that he's illustrated himself. The world goes between scenes of a run-down city in shambles and a heavenly limbo of space where angels and dragons can exist. Various objects appear throughout his work such as flowers, stars, suitcases, handkerchiefs, balloons, and so on, that carry on a theme of creating a scene of wonder through the mundane. In creating these style frames and storyboards, my goal was to tell a story based in Twardoch's world of puppets and traveling through it to show the limitless possibilities that behold it, even in the unlikeliest of places.
